Lazy Dog Hobby Studio began nearly six years ago with a simple idea: create affordable, practical tabletop gaming terrain and hobby accessories for modelers and gamers. What started with a small Etsy shop offering Warhammer 40k terrain and paint racks quickly grew into a business supported by a passionate community of hobbyists.
Built on a lifelong love of model building, Lazy Dog Hobby Studio designs tools and accessories that solve real hobby challenges. Some products, like our airplane jig, were created from our own needs at the workbench, while others came directly from customer requests for better ways to build, paint, and display their projects.
Since launching, we have been amazed by the support Lazy Dog Hobby Studio has received. We were proud to attend our first IPMS National Convention in San Marcos, followed by the show in Madison, and we continue to value the opportunity to meet customers, hear their ideas, and share new products in person.
For this year’s show, we are excited to introduce several new items that have not yet been listed in our Etsy shop, including:
1. Car Jig: A compact jig designed to hold car bodies and other small projects securely, allowing hobbyists to work with both hands free. This design was inspired by repeated customer requests and a need for a simple, reliable solution.
2. Heavy Duty Jig: Originally developed to support large 1:200 ship models, this jig is built for larger and heavier projects. It was created in response to frequent requests for a sturdy, dependable option for oversized models.
Today, Lazy Dog Hobby Studio is best known for its paint racks, which are available for a wide range of paint brands and sizes, from small Testors bottles to 50 ml paint tubes and nearly everything in between. In addition to paint storage, our Warhammer terrain, airplane jigs, and ship jigs remain popular with modelers looking for practical, well-designed tools that make the hobby more enjoyable.
